Self love

We all have different experiences in life and that’s what makes us unique. We can learn from eachother and build eachother up.

The most important thing for you to remember is putting yourself first. I find this very difficult. If you do everything for others you will burn yourself out and not be able to do anything. Take time to do what YOU want.

I have got back into reading lately and would like some recommendations.

What is your favourite book or author?

Let me know in the comments below and I shall have a read.

Never too old

The following quote was in my inbox and I agree with it.

You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.

Earlier I asked a friend to write something about disability and this is what she came up with.

Attitudes towards disability are changing. There was a time when people with disability were stigmatised and although some undesirable opinions remain, we no longer look at disabled people in a negative light. This is thanks in part to its positive image on television in recent years. The Superhumans Show, the ‘Yes I Can’ advert for the Paralympics and the Paralympics themselves have shown us what everyday disabled people can achieve if they are determined enough. Every disabled person is superhuman, having to work that much harder than those without a disability, just to get to the same result and yet they do this day in day out putting the able bodied to shame. So many people this year have said that although they loved the Olympics it was the Paralympics that really inspired them. Any gold medal winner is inspiring but every single Paralympian is inspiring. They inspire those with disabilities and those without. Living with a disability can be a struggle and so all disabled people deserve respect for what they achieve. In just a few short years the view of disability, particularly in the media, has become so much more positive and this is filtering down to all areas of life. How much more can we accomplish in the next few years?

What do you think leave a comment below.

That Indian Girl in Sweden

Volunteer to break the chain,
Of art of selfishness,
Of disrespecting the weak,
Of mistreating the weak,
Of shouting to make an impact,
Of being a pessimist.

Whatever goes comes back.
An eye for an eye,
Makes the whole world blind.
If your boss doesn’t treat you well,
You crib and shout at your kids,
Your spouse or parents,
Or those who work for you,
You are falling prey,
To a chain of negativity.

Have the courage,
To break this chain.
How others treat you,
Is not necessarily the way,
You ought to treat others.
Step in to take the higher road.

We often complain,
About others being judgmental,
How accepting you are,
For loving people despite their flaws?

We often complain,
Of not being understooded,
Of not being comforted,
Of not being supported.
But when was the last time,
You did this for someone,
Even within your own family.

Prompt volunteer

Today’s word is exciting because it brings so many new chances.

There are so many benefits as I volunteer as a Rainbows and Senior Section leader. I am planning on helping at the CAB and may even become a Magistrate.

There is such a lovely feeling  when you help another person, a satisfaction that you have enriched their lives.

Both my roles within Rainbows and Seniors are great fun and have taught me a lot. Organisation, planning, leading activities are all fun but can sometimes be a bit of a challenge.

It is a great way to get out and meet new people, experience this world and have an adventure.

Are you a volunteer? If so where? What have you learnt? Leave me a comment below.

Two great places to be a volunteer are listed below have a little look.

I found the following quote and thought I would share as I agree.

“It’s breaking down those barriers about your disability.”

It should not stop you from achieving your dreams.

Harry Potter

Recently I was reading JK Rowling’s biography and loved the following passage.
“Being so moved by Natalie and her life struggles and devotion to Harry Potter that she decided to honour the girl she had never met by writing her in to a passage of Harry Potter and the goblit of Fire of 159 sorting hat sends 1st year student Natalie McDonald to Harry’s Griffindor house.”
